Father,

Thank You for this new day.

Thank You for life, for the breath in my body, and for another beginning. Before I look at everything I need to do, I choose to look toward You.

I come as I am. Some mornings I feel ready; today I may feel tired, hurried, or uncertain. You do not ask me to hide that. You already know what happened yesterday and what has been filling my thoughts through the night.

Let Your mercy be new to me this morning. Forgive the words, choices, and attitudes that were wrong. Show me anything I need to repair. Keep regret from becoming a place where I remain trapped. Because of Jesus, help me rise with humility and hope.

I place this day in Your hands

You know every appointment, task, journey, and conversation ahead. You also know the interruptions I cannot see.

Give me wisdom to recognize what matters most. Keep me from confusing hurry with faithfulness. Help me do one thing at a time, with attention and honesty.

Where work is difficult, give me perseverance. Where a decision is unclear, give me patience to gather facts and listen. Where I have delayed a necessary task, give me courage to begin. Where my plans are too full, show me what can wait.

Do not let productivity become the measure of my worth. Teach me to work as someone already loved by You. Let effort be faithful rather than frantic.

Guide my words

Set a guard over my mouth today. Keep me from careless criticism, gossip, exaggeration, and words spoken only to win.

Help me listen without preparing my answer while another person speaks. Give me a gentle voice in tense moments and the courage to tell the truth when silence would be easier.

If I need to apologize, make me quick to do it without excuses. If someone speaks harshly, keep me from returning harm for harm. Show me when a firm boundary is necessary and help me express it without cruelty.

May my words make room for grace.

Care for the people I love

I bring my family and friends before You. You know the needs they have shared and the burdens they carry quietly.

Protect them from harm, give them wisdom, and surround them with trustworthy people. Where someone is ill, provide good care and endurance. Where someone is grieving, send patient comfort. Where there is conflict, open a way toward truth, repentance, and peace.

Show me one practical way to love someone today. Keep me from saying I care while remaining unavailable to every real need.

I also release the people I cannot control. Their choices are not mine to manage. Help me love them without trying to become their savior.

Meet me in my worries

Father, You know what concerns me most this morning. I name it before You now.

I do not know exactly how it will turn out. Keep my mind from living every frightening possibility at once. Show me the action that belongs to today and help me leave the rest with You.

When anxiety is strong, remind me to breathe, pray, speak with someone trustworthy, and seek qualified help when I need it. Thank You that receiving help is not failure.

Give me today’s bread, today’s wisdom, and today’s courage. I do not need tomorrow’s strength before tomorrow comes.

Make me attentive to others

Do not let my own plans make other people invisible. Help me notice the person who is excluded, the coworker who seems discouraged, the neighbor who needs kindness, and the stranger who deserves dignity.

Keep me from treating people as interruptions. At the same time, give me wisdom about my limits. I cannot meet every need, and I do not have to promise what I cannot give.

Let my kindness be practical. Make me generous without seeking praise and willing to serve when no one is watching.

Keep me near Jesus

In success, keep me humble. In disappointment, keep me from despair. When I am praised, remind me that every gift comes from You. When I am corrected, help me listen for what is true without allowing shame to define me.

Bring the words of Jesus back to mind when I need them. Shape my desires, not only my behavior. Teach me to love what is good and refuse what slowly hardens my heart.

When I fail today, lead me quickly back to grace. Do not let one wrong moment become permission to abandon the whole day.

Help me receive ordinary gifts

Open my eyes to small mercies: food, water, work, rest, laughter, useful hands, a kind message, light through a window.

I do not want to rush past the life You are giving while waiting for a more impressive one. Teach me to be present. Let gratitude grow without making me deny anything painful.

If the day becomes heavy, remind me that I may pause. My body is part of Your creation. Help me eat, rest, and care for it wisely.

Lead me through what I cannot predict

There may be news today that changes my plan. There may be a closed door, an unexpected opportunity, or a person who needs more time than I intended to give.

You will not be surprised.

Keep me flexible without becoming careless. Help me recognize what is mine to do and what belongs in Your hands. If fear says I am alone, remind me that Your presence goes with me.

At the end of this day, may I be able to look back without needing everything to have gone perfectly. Let me see signs of Your faithfulness, confess what was wrong, and rest.

I receive this morning as a gift. I place my unfinished plans, the people I love, and my own heart in Your care.

Walk with me in what is ordinary and what is difficult.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the words of this prayer?

Yes. Add names, decisions, and needs from your actual day. A written prayer is a starting point, not a script you must repeat exactly.

What if I do not have time for the whole prayer?

Pray one section or one sentence: “Father, give me today’s wisdom and keep me near Jesus.” God does not measure prayer by length.

Must morning prayer happen at a fixed time?

No. Pray when you can be attentive. The purpose is to bring the day to God, not to maintain a schedule that produces guilt.
