Father,

You know my mind. You see how quickly one concern becomes many and how difficult it is to settle my thoughts right now.

I do not want to fight all of this alone.

I come without polished words. My breathing may be tight, my body may be restless, and I may not even know which worry to name first. Meet me here.

I tell You what I fear

Lord, I am afraid of what may happen. I am afraid of losing what I love, making the wrong choice, receiving bad news, or discovering that I cannot manage what comes next.

You know the particular fear beneath those words. I speak it to You now.

Keep me from feeling ashamed because I am anxious. Shame only adds another burden. Help me look at the fear truthfully and with kindness.

Show me what is real in this moment and what my mind is predicting. Give me courage to face facts without treating every feared possibility as certain.

I place each burden in Your care

Your Word invites me to cast my anxieties on You because You care for me.

I place this person in Your hands. I place this decision in Your hands. I place my health, work, money, home, and future in Your hands.

This does not mean they no longer matter. It means I do not have to hold them as though constant tension could keep them safe.

When I pick the burden up again, help me return it without condemning myself. Let repeated prayer become repeated trust.

Give me wisdom for practical action

If there is something I need to do, make it clear and manageable. Help me send the message, make the appointment, gather the information, review the plan, or ask the difficult question.

Keep me from using prayer to avoid responsible action. Keep me also from acting in panic merely to escape uncertainty.

Give me patience to take one step at a time. I do not need to solve every part of the future today.

Lead me to trustworthy people. Help me explain what is happening instead of saying “I am fine” when I am not.

Help my body feel safe

Father, anxiety is not only in my thoughts. I feel it in my chest, stomach, muscles, sleep, and breathing.

Help me slow down. Let my feet feel the ground beneath them. Let me breathe without demanding that one breath fix everything.

Guide me toward food, movement, rest, and routines that care for the body You gave me. Give me wisdom about caffeine, screens, overwork, and other things that may make this harder.

Where symptoms continue or interfere with daily life, give me courage to speak with a doctor or qualified mental-health professional. Thank You that medical care and faith are not enemies.

Guard me from isolation

Anxiety tells me to hide until I can explain everything or appear calm. Help me resist that lie.

Bring one safe person to mind. Give me courage to say, “I am struggling and need you to listen.” Let me receive prayer and practical support.

Protect me from people who use spiritual words to dismiss real suffering. Lead me toward those who are patient, truthful, and willing to stay.

If I am in danger or thinking of harming myself, give me the clarity to contact emergency or crisis support immediately and not remain alone.

Renew my attention with truth

My thoughts keep moving toward the worst outcome. Bring me back to what is true.

You are present. I am speaking to You now. I have survived difficult hours before. Help is available. I can take the next step when it is time.

Most of all, nothing can separate those who belong to Christ from Your love. My anxious feeling does not cancel that love. My difficulty concentrating does not place me outside Your grace.

Give me one true sentence to carry: “When I am afraid, I will trust in You.”

Release me from controlling other people

Some of my anxiety is tied to choices another person may make. I want to manage their response, protect them from every consequence, or force a conversation to end well.

Show me what belongs to love and what belongs to control. Give me courage to speak truth, set healthy boundaries, and offer help without trying to become another person’s savior.

I place their freedom and future in Your hands. Keep my heart open, but keep me from carrying responsibility You did not give me.

Stay with me in uncertainty

I would like a guarantee that everything will turn out as I hope. You have not promised that. You have promised Your presence and the final hope of Christ.

Teach me to trust without inventing certainty. If the answer is delayed, sustain me. If the answer is painful, surround me with help. If a door opens, give me humility and gratitude.

Let uncertainty become a place where I learn dependence, not a room where fear rules alone.

Give me rest for this moment

I release the demand to feel completely calm before this prayer ends. Peace may come slowly.

For the next few minutes, help me stop solving. Let me sit, walk, or lie down under Your care. Quiet what can be quieted and hold what still feels unsettled.

You are not disappointed in me. Jesus welcomes the weary and burdened. I come as one of them.

Father, give me enough strength for today, enough light for the next step, and enough humility to receive help. Guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Amen.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pray this during a panic attack?

Use only a short line if reading is difficult: “God, stay near and help me receive care.” Follow any crisis plan provided by a clinician and contact appropriate help when needed.

Why am I still anxious after praying?

Prayer is not a test that you failed. Anxiety may require time, repeated support, practical changes, and professional care. God’s care is present throughout that process.

Is anxiety medication a lack of faith?

No. Medication prescribed and monitored by a qualified professional can be part of appropriate care. Discuss benefits and risks with that professional.
